Spanish giants Barcelona managed to disgracefully lose to Athletic club in the Supercopa finals. Their future remains uncertain as ever due to the big hole in their defense and lack of recent attack and midfield. Despite buying reputable players like De Jong and Griezmann over the past few years, and changing the management, very little of the club’s performance has changed.

With that being said, young talents like Fati, Dembele and Dest could very well carry to club to its former glory, so the horizon isn’t too bleak for Barca fans. Even the Supercopa wasn’t as uneventful as it was deemed to be, considering that they lost 2-3 and the match seemed fairly even. Griezmann kickstarted by scoring the first goal followed by De Marco from Athletic Club. Griezmann continued to score another goal but that when Barca’s good luck ended. Williams managed to get a final goal in for Athletic as soon as they began the extra time.

Eventually, Barca’s pent up frustration caught up to them and they lost the game right after Messi received a red card and was sent off the field. He is set to be suspended for two games and received a red card for the first time in his 753 appearances for Barca’s A team. So this really is a big feat for him, but not the good type. Barca is set to appeal this suspension as they deem this situation to be an “accident.”
