Lionel Messi won his sixth Ballon D’or this month. What a great way to end the decade for his family and his football family!!! Virgil Van Dijk won a close second with just a hand full of points below the GOAT Messi.
VVD also threw some shade at Ronaldo at the ceremony telling the press that Ronaldo wasn’t really a part of the competition this year. Ronaldo replied by saying that VVD is the one who’s attending his first ceremony ever. Will this lead to a spark between the two players and their teams? Or will it be forgotten in upcoming days? I guess that we’ll have to wait and find out.
As per what this means for Ronaldo fans, have they accepted that Messi is the better one and the greatest of all times? Well, that is a big fat no. One of the best and juiciest arguments of football that has been going on for almost a decade now is not going to come to an end just because Messi has more awards than Ronaldo. But that is the beauty of this sport, everyone has opinions, everyone has their team and there’s nothing much that anyone else can do to change that.
